This melodic slowcore unit is comprised of singer-guitarist Jim Putnam, formerly of Medicine and Maids of Gravity, drummer Steve Goodfriend, and Bassist, Senon Williams. From the start, the band was meant to be a vehicle for Putnam's previous work, but afterwards it was the combined writing of the music that prevailed.

Originally formed in 1993, Radar Brothers' first release was a self titled EP under the Fingerpaint Records label. This brilliant, alluring, soundtrack of the band's intentions, gained them popularity in the UK, and successfully helped to form their Beach Boys meets Pink Floyd in guitar space image.

In 1997, after gaining attention from a few of the larger record labels, Radar Brothers signed to Restless Records, and released another self-titled work, this time a full length LP. Their first LP was met with praise, but later, incredibly, the band was dropped by Restless.

This didn't see the end of the group though, who in 1999, once again rose from their ambient ashes, to write the beautiful, 'Singing Hatchet', this time under Seethru Broadcasting, a label based in San Francisco. In 2002 they released 'And the Surrounding Mountains' on Merge Records.
